Old-school hot rods never go out of style. Doing it resto-mod style is even better. There's something about those elegant, flowing 1930's car designs combined with an abundance of modern power and features that makes cruising around in one of these rolling sculptures double the fun. Here we have a 1937 Ford Five Window Coupe that received the resto-mod treatment. The car, which is from warm and dry Arizona, features a rock-solid, all-steel body. No fiberglass fenders here. The glass is all new and the car has been lowered two inches for that perfect stance. That elegant body received a beautiful respray in deep red, highlighted by hand-painted pinstriping and a set of color-matched steel wheels accented with chrome hub caps and trim rings. Those wheels are fitted with Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires. Note that there are a few minor scrapes on the left rear quarter panel but otherwise the body is very nice overall. Inside the tasteful custom theme continues with leather upholstery that features a pair of Cadillac Escalade front seats with pull-down center armrests and full power adjustment. A leather-wrapped, old-school "Banjo" steering wheel looks and feels great, and a full set of Auto Meter gauges keep tabs on everything. Modern comforts include a tilt steering wheel, A/C and a Pioneer audio system. The original radio and clock, in all their Art Deco glory, still reside in the dash. A Heidts front suspension system and traditional leaf spring rear suspension underpin the Ford. Power rack-and-pinion steering and power front disc/rear drum brakes provide modern-style sure-footed handling and braking. Under the hood is a proven 350 V8 crate motor. It send the power to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. A dual exhaust system with side outlets provides the right soundtrack. On the road, this '37 coupe runs and drives as well as it looks. Lean on the gas and it moves out with gusto. And thanks to its modern mechanical and luxury features, even long road trips are a pleasure. Please call Carroll Street Auto at (603) 627-5595 to schedule time to view this classic close up.
