Description

GOING TO OWLS HEAD AUCTION -- Aug. 23rd & 24th Call in your bid on this beautiful time capsule! Back in the late '50s and early '60s, Cadillacs were luxurious, powerful and unabashedly flamboyant. The swoopy, jet-age-inspired styling featured plenty of chrome and of course, those fancy fins. Here we have an amazing find, a 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville with just under 41,000 original miles. This incredible survivor has just been fully recommissioned after 45 years in storage and is now ready for the road. The Caddy's exterior has just undergone an extensive reconditioning and now it shines like a mirror. The long and low body boasts all its rock-solid original panels and that Olympic White paint is about 90 percent original. The chrome and stainless-steel trim look fantastic as well and even the weather stripping is free of dry rot and still supple. The Cadillac's underside is similarly in amazing condition, thanks to factory undercoating and the car being well cared for since it was new. Inside, it's a time capsule as the original upholstery -- a plush combination of black brocade cloth with white leather trim -- looks and feels great. The steering wheel has no cracks and the dash, instruments and door panels with their patterned aluminum accents are also all in impressive condition. The power windows, power seat and power antenna all work as they should. The AM radio does as well, and you half expect to hear Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons when you switch it on. The recommissioning servicing performed on the Coupe de Ville was very comprehensive, so as to make this classic look, ride and perform as close to new as possible. Highlights of that extensive effort include a new gas tank and sending unit, a new OEM-style exhaust system with resonators, new brakes (including wheel cylinders, master cylinder and power booster), new fuel pump, a rebuilt carburetor, a re-cored original Harrison radiator, new white wall radial tires and a new spare tire with jack assembly. Out on the road the Caddy drives like a dream, with the smooth 390 V8 along with power steering and power brakes making it a breeze to wheel around. Whether gathering admiring smiles and comments at a Cars and Coffee event or effortlessly unreeling a few hundred interstate miles on a weekend getaway, this sharp Coupe de Ville is sure to please its next owner.
