Representing the last year of the "C1" (Corvette, 1st generation), the 1962 Corvette is special for a few other reasons. That year marked the debut of the iconic 327 V8, which replaced the 283 and offered even stronger performance than its well-respected predecessor. The styling was also refined as it was now monochromatic and more cohesive with the de-chromed character lines on the front fenders and doors now matching those on the rear quarters. Here we have a three-owner 1962 Corvette that has been very well cared for since new and it shows. The odometer showing 87,868 miles is believed correct given the documentation, although we cannot make that claim for certain. The documentation includes copies of the titles as well as maintenance history and receipts. The Roman Red finish is a correct, high-quality respray and looks fantastic, as do the chrome bumpers and other assorted chrome and stainless-steel trim pieces. The underside is impressively clean and solid while original style Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires fitted with original “knock-off” wheel covers add the perfect accent to this classic Corvette. Note that this car comes with the removable hard top but no soft top. The interior is mostly original and has a few minor flaws in the upholstery as seen in the photos, but otherwise is in nice condition. The dash top has been replaced as has the door weatherstripping and carpeting on the left and right sides (center portion is original). The Corvette retains its original gear shifter while the radio was replaced with an AM/FM/Cassette system with a trunk-mounted amplifier. Under the hood, the original 327 V8 was replaced with an era-correct 327/300 horsepower mill with double hump heads, a solid lifter camshaft, factory “off-road” exhaust, a four-core aluminum radiator, and Corvette finned aluminum valve covers. An alternator is in place of the original generator. As stated, this is not the original 327 although it does have the correct casting numbers for 1962. It also runs and sounds awesome. Well-sorted after getting any necessary repairs/maintenance done in our shop, this Corvette provides a spirited and engaging drive and is simply a blast to wheel around in. It will also garner plenty of thumbs up and admiring looks when you’re cruising around or visiting your local Cars and Coffee events.
