1963 Chevrolet Nova

Introduced for 1963, the SS version of the Nova was a sporty appearance package that consisted chiefly of bucket seats, full instruments, and some added trim accents. But you couldn’t get one with a V8 that debut year, as one was not yet available in the Nova lineup. The following year, the Nova SS could be had with Chevrolet's sprightly 283 cubic-inch V8 with up to 220 horsepower, giving the car spirited performance to match its "Super Sport" emblems. This 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS convertible has been restored from the ground up with a few tasteful liberties taken, chief among them being a transplant to V8 power. Being a ’63 this car originally came with a straight six, so during the restoration the car was fitted with a 283 V8 from a 1967 Nova. That engine was completely rebuilt and sports dual exhaust. The Powerglide automatic transmission was retained and rebuilt as well. Originally equipped with manual steering, the Nova was upgraded to power steering , making for an easier and more enjoyable drive. This rare example has a manual convertible top that works effortless with a touch of a finger. Originally a white car with a red interior, the pristine SS now wears a high-end respray in vibrant red paint which is complemented nicely by the black convertible top and original SS spinner-style wheel covers. A set of radial whitewall tires provide a proper period look with modern drivability. All the chrome and stainless-steel trim is pristine and adds to this gorgeous Nova SS’ massive head-turning factor. The original rust-free body panels, trunk and underside look factory fresh as well. The incredibly well-preserved interior boasts -- this being a real SS -- bucket seats and a center console. Even the original AM radio is present and working. From the convertible top down to the carpet, the inside of this car is as amazing as the exterior, completing the “fresh off the showroom floor” impression. Note that some photos were taken inside, hence the slightly different shades of the red color. Note that this car was restored in 2018. In addition to the body and engine components, the suspension and braking systems were gone through as well, with the car receiving new shocks, a brake system refurbishment, new emergency brake system, rebuilt front end components , brake & fuel lines, a new gas tank and a new sending unit. The car has been driven minimally since and has always been properly stored. Out on the road, this snazzy Nova SS moves out smoothly and, when you want, swiftly. A dual exhaust system with OEM style mufflers was fitted during the restoration and gives provides a subtly powerful sound. Picture yourself at your local Cars and Coffee or, better yet, on a road trip with the top down and V8 burbling contentedly as you cruise effortlessly down the highway.
