Debuting in 1964, the Pontiac GTO is widely regarded as the car that started the first muscle car era that lasted through the early 1970s. For its sophomore year (1965), the GTO sported updated styling with stacked headlights and a singular simulated hood scoop design that looked more realistic than the previous, smaller dual fake scoops. An older restoration that still presents beautifully today, this 1965 GTO must be seen and driven. The rock-solid body is stunning in its factory correct Teal Turquois paint. Factory exhaust splitters and Rally One wheels wearing redline bias-ply tires add the perfect accents to this impressive Pontiac. The car's doors open and shut with a solid click, evidence of the nice overall condition of this GTO. The arrow straight body panels appear all original and the chrome and stainless steel trim is brilliant as well. The underside is clean and in very good condition overall, with replacement of the driver's side floor plan evident. The GTO's Teal interior is equally gorgeous and features bucket seats, a center console, Rally gauges, a vacuum gauge and the factory optional sport steering wheel with its simulated wood rim. Under the hood is a 389 V8 with Tri-Power induction; it originally had a 4-barrel carburetor. All that power runs through the factory 4-speed Muncie gearbox and out to the 3.23-geared, "Safe-T-Track" rear end. Underway, this Goat runs as good as it sounds, which is to say fantastic. Factory power steering and power brakes add to the enjoyment of cruising around in this iconic muscle car. Note that the GTO is scheduled to have a new exhaust system installed.
