With a sharp redesign for 1968, Chevrolet's "Chevy II" Nova took on more of a mini muscle car look with its kicked-up rear quarter panels and overall beefier stance. Of course, the tough looks could be backed up with V8 power ranging from 307 to 396 cubic inches. Little wonder that this generation, produced from 1968 through 1972, is a favorite among muscle car enthusiasts. On offer here is the top dog – a 1968 Nova SS restomod that’s in amazing condition. The underside is so clean we’d eat lasagna off it. This rock-solid California car still boasts its original, rock-solid body panels, floors and trunk pans. And that beautiful, arrow-straight body sports a lustrous respray done in Ford Twilight Blue, which is very similar to the car’s original Fathom Blue hue. It is accented with a pair of light blue stripes down the hood and trunk lid, as well as accent stripes that follow the car’s character lines along the body sides. A cowl induction steel hood, show-quality chrome bumpers and brilliant chrome/stainless and 15-inch Super Sport rally wheels fitted with new, beefy BF Goodrich Radial T/As complete the Nova’s considerable curb appeal. Inside, you'll find a set of ultra soft leather/suede bucket seats that have extended seat tracks that can accommodate tall folks. Surrounding the Hurst 4-speed stick is a factory mini-console, while an aftermarket armrest/console provides added storage and a pair of cup holders. There’s also a Bow-tie billet aluminum 3-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a new dash cover, new door panels, new carpet, and a new headliner. Keeping tabs on the monster mill are a Sport-Comp Monster tach, a pro-shift lite, and a 3 pod Auto gauge set neatly installed under the dash. This stunning interior also has a potent sound system whose highlights include a Kenwood head unit with an Alumapro 250-watt sub-woofer, 6x9” speakers in the back, and 5" Kenwood speakers up front. Even the clock works. The trunk is spotless, and sound deadening was installed throughout the car. Under that cowl hood is a mighty, balanced and blu-printed 454 big block. Highlights of the powerhouse include Brodix cylinder heads, a steel-forged crankshaft, TRW forged pistons (with pump-friendly 8.9:1 compression), a Comp-Cam, Headman Headers, a 3" exhaust/w crossover and Flow-Master 50's, MSD6-Al ignition, an aluminum water pump and a March Serpentine billet aluminum pulley system. Under-hood eye candy includes chrome Chevrolet valve covers, steel-braided heater/water pump hoses, Areo-fit fuel rails with a fuel pressure gauge, and a 4-core aluminum radiator w/electric fan. Bottom line power specs on a dyno are impressive, with that 454 cranking out 464 horsepower and a pavement-rippling 560 pound-feet of torque. ft-lbs @ 6000 RPM. The transmission is an M-20 close-ratio Muncie, that shifts smoothly as it sends the power to a 12 Bolt Positraction rear end with a 3 .73 axle. Competition Engineering adjustable, bolt-on “Slide-A-Link” traction bars help put the power to the pavement as do Moser "Brute" axles, sub-frame connectors, and a Moser Aluminum rear end cover. This incredible car is as much fun to drive as you'd imagine! For more information or to schedule time to see this very much “show-and-go” Nova SS, just give us a call at 603-627-5595.
