1984 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

In the early '90s, GMC brought out the Typhoon version of its Jimmy compact SUV. With a powerhouse turbo V6, ripping performance and unique body treatment, these quickly became a collectors item and now fetch big bucks. Oddly, Chevrolet didn't have a high-performance version of its S-10 Blazer, the Jimmy's corporate twin. But if they had, it may have been like what we have on offer here. Using a low-mileage and virtually mint example as the staring point, a former owner created what the factory didn't -- a muscle truck version of the S-10 Blazer. The amazingly clean body was treated to tasteful ground effects, a cowl hood, a custom grille and a set of 16-inch IROC-Z wheels fitted with high-performance tires. A discreet, old-school Chevy crossed flags V8 emblem on each front fender provides a subtle clue that there's not some weak sauce four- or six-cylinder mill residing under that hood scoop. What is under the hood is no less than a stroked Chevy small block equaling 383 cubic inches. It sends the power through an automatic transmission and on to the Ford 9-inch rear end. Wrapped headers run to a dual exhaust system with chrome tips for the proper visual accompaniment to the throaty soundtrack the big V8 produces. That brawny 383 along with the S-10 Blazer's relatively light weight means this thing really scoots when you lean into it. Please note this has a 3-speed automatic, not an AOD as initially indicated. The full custom interior features blue tweed upholstery that looks fantastic and proves comfortable. There's plenty of factory options here as well, including A/C, power windows and even the original Delco AM/FM/Cassette sound system. Other features include auxiliary gauges built into the 3rd-gen Camaro-sourced center console as well as a custom aluminum trim plate that dresses up the dash. Even the rear cargo compartment looks fantastic with its matching tweed upholstery rather than the drab factory finish of hard plastic.
