1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The ‘80s were a big decade for the Monte Carlo, as the SS version made a righteous comeback. Sporting an aero-styled front end along with a high-output 5.0-liter (305 cubic-inch) 4-barrel V8 running through a four-speed (after ’83) automatic, the new Monte SS was a stylish performer. This particular Monte Carlo SS is the very rare “Aero Coupe” version with the large, semi-fastback rear window inspired by the NASCAR racing versions. Those aerodynamic Montes enjoyed great success with racing legend Dale Earnhardt at the wheel. This 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe is one of just 6,052 produced and is a one owner car that has been garaged and pampered since new. Just out of long term storage, this amazing find hasn't seen the light of day for several years. This Monte Carlo Aero Coupe has air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, rear window defroster, AM/FM/CD (in a newer GM audio unit) and bucket seats with console. Note that the Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires have good tread but are old and as such should be replaced due to age. The rock-solid body, gleaming paint and various factory graphics (such as the body side stripes) are in very nice condition apart from some minor imperfections pointed out in the photos. The body panels are arrow-straight with even gaps and the doors shut with a finger's push. The weather-stripping is supple, an indication that the car was garaged rather than being left outside too long in the glaring sun which can fade the upholstery and dry out a car's various rubber trim pieces. Inside, the headliner, dash, door panels, plush cloth upholstery and carpet are all original and all in fantastic condition. No sagging roof liner (somewhat common with these cars) or soiled fabric here. Under the hood is all original and clean as well, no engine mods or tacky aftermarket bling to be seen. Likewise for the clean trunk with its original space saver spare tire, jack assembly and trunk mat which are all intact and in fine condition. Out on the road, this Monte Carlo SS runs smooth and strong, with a nice burble from the dual exhaust pipes. Overall, it drives just as you'd expect a low-mileage, collector-owned and well-maintained example to. Whether taking the kiddos on an ice-cream run or eating up highway miles on a weekend getaway, this '80s icon presents a lot of bang for the buck.
